Morris Dancing @ Eugene Garden Club
May 27 @ 6:15 pm – 8:15 pm

Two Rivers Morris

No one knows exactly when Morris dancing began, but what we do know for sure it began long ago in rural England and today it it happens in Lane County and all over the globe.

Two Rivers dances border-style English Morris, wearing a traditional kit of bells, tatters, hats and sticks.

We usually practice Mondays from 6:15-8:15 at the Garden Club at 1645 High St., Eugene, and we welcome new dancers who would like to try out Morris dancing. Practice is done in street clothes while we wear our kit when performing.

Parking is available in the lot directly across the street. (do not park in the lot of the next-door business). We enter at the door just to the left of the large front door. After practice you may find some of us at a local pub enjoying a pint of good ale.

We invite you to come try Morris dancing and perhaps join us!

Contra Dance – Bandwidth with Koren A. Wake calling @ The Village School
Jun 8 @ 7:00 pm – 10:30 pm

We no longer require proof of COVID vaccination to attend a contra dance, and masks are optional at the discretion of  individual participants.

Band: Bandwidth

Bandwidth brings together three of Portland’s contra dance music veterans, Gordy Euler (fiddle, whistle, piano), Keith Moe (fiddle), and Carl Thor (piano, mandolin) in a new configuration. Be ready for an exciting, full spectrum of contra dance music when these gents take to the stage. They’re having fun up there, and it shows!

Caller: Koren A. Wake

Koren Wake has only been calling contra dances since 2022, but she has been dancing, loving, and obsessing about contra since she was a child. Originally from New England, she spent decades analyzing the art and flow of contra and developing a deep understanding of the dance before she finally picked up a microphone in Seattle, where she is now based. She has already shared stages with some of the hottest bands in the Pacific Northwest, and has quickly proven that’s exactly where she belongs. She loves nothing more than to help dancers discover the patterns and connections of well-crafted choreography. Koren’s primary goal as a caller is to combine exquisite dance selection with clear and accessible teaching in order to bring dancers of all skill levels together on the floor.

  • Admission: $12-$20 non-members; $10-$20 for EFS members; $8 students
  • Beginners lesson starts at 7:00pm (experienced dancers welcome). Each dance is taught.
  • Dance starts at 7:30pm. No partner necessary (it’s traditional to dance each dance with a different partner)
  • Calling will use gender-neutral terminology
  • Find out more about attending at the Eugene Contra page.
  • Potluck:  Potlucks are not being planned at this time..
  • Dance held at The Village School,
