Ric Goldman calls and teaches Contra, English Country, Irish set, Morris, and international folk dances. Ric delights in all the wonderful dance communities he encounters and loves combining simple and sophisticated dances into programs that challenge and entertain both newcomers and experienced dancers alike. Band:  James and the Lupine Leprechauns

Mary Grace performs Celtic music on the harp, sometimes mixed with songs, stories, and original works.  She is an Oregon-born harper who has studied at the University of Oregon as well as abroad in Ireland. A current resident of the Willamette Valley, she enjoys playing weddings, festivals, parties, and unique occasions.

James Gregg, who some have ventured to say sprung spontaneously out of a peat bog, is a multi-instrumentalist playing mainly traditional Irish style flute, but also pennywhistle, Scottish shuttle pipes and Scottish Highland Bagpipes. James’ musical career spans 55 years, informed by four years of playing ceilidhs in the village of Ardentinny in the Highlands of Scotland and ten years as a full-time professional musician in a Celtic band Stateside.

Eddie Butler and Nila Garner have been playing Irish music in the area professionally since 2014 at wineries, breweries, St Patrick’s Day Celebrations and for special occasions. They also appear and perform regularly at sessions in Portland and Eugene. Eddy is an excellent musician demonstrating great skill and authentic Irish style while also using the freedom afforded by the genre to create his own unique Celtic voice on the fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Nila who plays bodhran, the Irish frame drum, is also an excellent musician with a terrific sense of rhythm and highly ornamented authentic Irish style, augmented by the fact that she changes the tone of her bodhran to cord with the structure of the tune.

Caller:  William Watson

William Watson, a resident of Portland, OR, danced his first contra in 1989 and began calling in Texas in 1992. Having called numerous contra events in cities coast-to-coast, William’s extensive experience and soothing voice project a calm confidence. His vigilant and thoughtful dance programming ensures a variety of figures, transitions, and sequences to entertain and support new dancers while offering the occasional challenge for the more advanced. His calling proficiency and sensitivities ensure everyone has a good time.
