Two Rivers Morris

No one knows exactly when Morris dancing began, but what we do know for sure it began long ago in rural England and today it it happens in Lane County and all over the globe.

Two Rivers dances border-style English Morris, wearing a traditional kit of bells, tatters, hats and sticks.

We usually practice Mondays from 6:15-8:15 at the Garden Club at 1645 High St., Eugene, and we welcome new dancers who would like to try out Morris dancing. Practice is done in street clothes while we wear our kit when performing.

Parking is available in the lot directly across the street. (do not park in the lot of the next-door business). We enter at the door just to the left of the large front door. After practice you may find some of us at a local pub enjoying a pint of good ale.

We invite you to come try Morris dancing and perhaps join us!

Contra Dance – Chicken Feathers w/ Shell Stowell calling @ The Village School
Oct 14 @ 7:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Based on results of a survey of our Contra community, EFS has changed it’s health safety policy. As of of May 2023 we will no longer require proof of COVID vaccination to attend a contra dance and wearing of masks will be optional, at the discretion of  individual participants.

Band: Chicken Feathers

Laurie Andres with Chicken Feathers specializes in old-fashioned, dynamic New England contra dance music, inspired by their hero, tune master Bob McQuillen. The tunes are really good marches and reels, with an occasional jig to lighten your step.

Caller: Shell Stowell

Shell Stowell started contra dancing in 2015, and has been dancing up and down the West coast ever since. Driven by her passion for the dance, music, and community, Shell now plays the fiddle and helps to organize the Corvallis Contra Weekend. As a dancer, Shell is known for her enthusiasm on and off the dance floor. As a caller, she incorporates her love of teaching, organizing, and music to strive for clear, energetic instruction and variety in her programming. Shell also emphasizes safe, inclusive dance etiquette that promotes positive communication between dancers.
