Two Rivers Morris

No one knows exactly when Morris dancing began, but what we do know for sure it began long ago in rural England and today it it happens in Lane County and all over the globe.

Two Rivers dances border-style English Morris, wearing a traditional kit of bells, tatters, hats and sticks.

We usually practice Mondays from 6:15-8:15 at the Garden Club at 1645 High St., Eugene, and we welcome new dancers who would like to try out Morris dancing. Practice is done in street clothes while we wear our kit when performing.

Parking is available in the lot directly across the street. (do not park in the lot of the next-door business). We enter at the door just to the left of the large front door. After practice you may find some of us at a local pub enjoying a pint of good ale.

We invite you to come try Morris dancing and perhaps join us!

Bandwidth brings together three of Portland’s contra dance music veterans, Gordy Euler (fiddle, whistle, piano), Keith Moe (fiddle), and Carl Thor (piano, mandolin) in a new configuration. Be ready for an exciting, full spectrum of contra dance music when these gents take to the stage. They’re having fun up there, and it shows!

Karen Olsen has an encyclopedic knowledge of contra dances and is a good teacher and caller. Very patient and clear. She likes to keep the dancers moving, starting out with simpler dances in the beginners lesson, and progressing to more complex dances. She is also a musician and plays her concertina for dances in Coos Bay. She strives to infuse both her calling and the dancers with her own joyful enthusiasm for contra dance and music.
